Tony spent 17 years working on a freelance basis in the film industry. At various times he worked as a Director, Scriptwriter, Production Manager, Editor, First Assistant Director and Second Unit Director.

In 1988 he wrote and directed the cinema feature RAW NERVE, starring John Polson, Rebecca Rigg and Kelly Dingwall. The film was invited to the London Film Festival and screened in Australia to excellent reviews. The international rights were subsequently sold to a UK-based distributor which promptly went down the proverbial gurgler, taking the film with it.

"A film of integrity." - David Stratton, SBS Movie Show

"A remarkable piece of writing and film-making" - Dougal Macdonald, Canberra Times

" The best young performers you've probably seen in years. You can't fault Raw Nerve in script, direction and acting." - Rob Lowing, Sun Herald

Tony has also directed television dramas, documentaries, educational programs and music videos. He won a Bronze Award at the New York Film & Video Festival. He was First Assistant Director on various TV series and dramas, and many feature films, including DEAD CALM starring Nicole Kidman and Sam Neil.

Tony worked as a Lecturer in Media Studies at what is now Charles Sturt University, teaching film and television production.

Between 1987 and 1993 he was frequently engaged to teach at The Australian Film Television & Radio School, where he ran short courses, gave lectures on film craft, worked as acting Head of Production and supervised student productions.

In 2008, Tony returned to film-making to direct a documentary on the Cooloola section of The Great Sandy National Park.
