About Tony
Tony Wellington: author, photographer, politician, freelance writer, artist, film-maker, lecturer, musician and social commentator.
Tony graduated from Sydney's Macquarie University in 1976 with a BA majoring in Communications and Mass Media. He received the University Prize for his media studies.
He has worked on a freelance basis in the film and television industry, written books and many published articles, lectured in media, had exhibitions of his paintings around Australia, provided illustrations and photographs for various books, run folk clubs, recorded a CD of original songs, and published a regular political newsletter.
Tony was a councillor on both the Sunshine Coast Council and the Noosa Council, and he was Mayor of Noosa. He was The Climate Council's Cities Power Partnership Ambassador in 2019.
He is a father of three. Living with his wife in the Noosa hinterland, he enjoys photographing critters large and small. He currently features on ABC Coast FM each Tuesday afternoon talking about wildlife.
